Candle and Home Fragrance Packaging

A candle is heavy, fragile and often sold as a gift. Those three facts decide the packaging: the base has to carry the filled weight, the glass has to be held away from the walls, and the box has to look good enough to give without wrapping.

What changes the packaging in this category

Four constraints drive most of the decisions here. They are the first things we ask about.

01

Filled weight, not empty weight

A 220 g candle in a glass jar can weigh over 400 g packed. Board grade and insert design are calculated from the packed weight, because that is what the carton carries.

02

Glass needs clearance, not padding alone

The insert holds the jar away from the walls so an impact deforms the box before it reaches the glass. Foam, pulp and corrugated fitments each give a different level of protection.

03

Gift positioning changes the structure

A shelf carton and a gift box are different products. When a candle is bought as a present, the lid, the insert and the interior print carry more weight than the front panel.

04

Fragrance and finish interact

Some inks and laminates are affected by fragrance oils over time. Where a candle is packed soon after pouring, we specify the finish with that in mind.

A typical packaging set

Most brands in this category need three or four of these, not one. Each is quoted separately.

Candle & Home Fragrance packaging: common questions

Can one box hold two or three jars?

Yes. Multi-cavity inserts are made from pulp, corrugated or foam, with the spacing set so the jars cannot touch each other in transit.

Is a plastic-free insert strong enough for glass?

Molded pulp and corrugated fitments hold glass well when the cavity is designed for the jar shape and the box has enough clearance. For heavy jars or long routes we test the packed weight against the insert before quoting.

Do you print the inside of the lid?

Yes. Interior print is common for candles because the lid is seen when the box is opened. It is printed on the wrap before the box is assembled.

What is the minimum order?

500 pcs per size, for every box type.
